From the Garder See (a lake, which is located about 15km to the south of Güstrow), this trip leads across two lakes to the river
Mildenitz, which inspires any canoeist with its flood plains reminding of primeval forests. You will almost certainly have the opportunity of spotting the kingfisher during this varied trip. You will spend the night in a tent at a rest area right by the waterside, where there is a campfire site at your disposal in addition to a WC and a drinking water supply point. The second day of canoeing on the river Mildenitz will then lead towards the Sternberger See (a lake). The two places where the canoes have to be carried will cause no problem when done together and with the help of a boat trolley. In the afternoon, you will then reach the Sternberg rest area for water hikers (where showers, WC, barbecue site, a volleyball field etc. are provided) and where you will spend a second night. Interesting stops and visits on the way can be planned with the option of a tour of the “ Slawenburg Groß Raden ” (Slavic castle at Groß Raden) open-air museum, the historic hydroelectric power station at Zülow and the Rothen mill (wickerwork, textile design and cider production)! By prior agreement by telephone, the cleaned canoes are loaded and taken back to the point of departure of the trip.
Week of canoeing on the rivers Mildenitz and Warnow
The trip described above can be extended to Rostock without any problems!
The third day will lead to the river Warnow, which has created a transverse valley of which there are not many in Northern Germany. On short sections here, you can gain “ white-water ” experience , but the canoeing routine of the first stages will pay off for you at this point. Later on, the river will make its way calmly again and the rest areas at Eickhof, Bützow and Schwaan provide wonderful options for accommodation. The wide valley of the river Warnow with its pastures and forests will remain in your memory as a place of peace and for watching nature.
In the villages, you can visit old churches and small art exhibitions or enjoy the local cuisine. We will arrange to meet in good time before the destination and collect you from our station in Rostock.
We can offer attractive terms for groups with three or more canoes.
