specific circumstances that made them set out to unknow, for
-off shores.
You will be visiting interesting curiosities, such as the Fritz
Reuter Museum at Stavenhagen, and enjoying the charming scenery
of this country abundant with lakes, hills and little woods.
Day trip no. 1
Starting point: Hanseatic town of Rostock
Course
of the day
1.
Departure from Rostock via Laage (under way
your guide tells you interesting things of the appropriate
area you are driving through)
2.
Stop: town of Teterow a typical Mecklenburgian
small town with a ring shaped lay-out of streets and the „Hechtbrunnen“
(pike fountain) that was erected with the assistance of an
American donor – „visiting the descendants of
the „Mecklenburgian Gothamites“
3.
Travelling will continue through a pleasant hilly landscape
via the village of Remplin
(remainders of the former palace buildings of the counts of
Hahn, from the Hahn`s
estates lots of day laborer families emigrated to the United
States in the 19th century) and the town of Malchin
once being the alternate place of the Mecklenburg Parliament.

Stop: Reuterstadt Stavenhagen – visit
of the Fritz-Reuter-Museum:
Life and Work of the most famous low German poet of Mecklenburg
Lunchtime
1.
Stop: village of Kittendorf – formerly
a big estate of the Oertzen noble family, lots
of emigrants, one of the „most important and most splendid
manor houses“ in
Mecklenburg. Visit of the manor house and promenade in the
adjacent park, visit of day laborer cottages, the Gothic brick-stone
church and cemetery.
2.
Driving back to Rostock: via Groß Plasten, Waren
(prospect of the lake Müritz), Klink,
Malchow with its old town marvellously situated
on an island, highway to Rostock.
